Christmas is an absolute joy, when Santa brings very special beans in his sack….
Thank you, Michael, our very own coffee-hunter! We can’t wait to get back to doubleshot to pull some shots of square mile coffee and Java House.

…pulled out his Moleskin notebook and started drawing a series of circles, etching page after page with leaden philosophical meaning, symbols open to interpretation and disintegration. In his bag beside him, lay Willi Kurth’s The Complete Woodcuts of Albrecht Dürer, which Ryan had paged through on numerous occasions. Little did we realise then, that these would form the base for a remarkable and fascinating exhibition at David Krut Projects, titled Book of Ruth (as opposed to “ruthless”!). Ryan’s works explore the purity of line and circular form, particularly depicted in Ryan’s interpretation of Picasso’s Child with a Dove.
doubleshot is extremely proud to have a selection of Ryan’s etchings and engravings from his printmaking outing, now showing until the end of January 2009.

A few weeks ago, doubleshot was visited by a crazy barista called Nigel, who normally finds himself pulling shots of Origin espresso after church service every Sunday, somewhere close to Pretoria. He brought along his coffee-loving friends, Viv and Nick from Knysna, and together we jammed coffee! After several three-quarter cappas and a big Nigel ”flat-white”, we moved on to pulling velvety, fat, single origin Sidamo ristretto shots, as well as single-drip Rwanda Musasa. It was glorious and we sang our coffee-praises! Today we caught a second wave of this visit, with a group of fellow coffee-lovers, sent by Nigel, who were consumed by micro-foamed milk, latté art and doubleshot cappuccini. It was great having you at doubleshot!
