…pulled out his Moleskin notebook and started drawing a series of circles, etching page after page with leaden philosophical meaning, symbols open to interpretation and disintegration. In his bag beside him, lay Willi Kurth’s The Complete Woodcuts of Albrecht Dürer, which Ryan had paged through on numerous occasions. Little did we realise then, that these would form the base for a remarkable and fascinating exhibition at David Krut Projects, titled Book of Ruth (as opposed to “ruthless”!). Ryan’s works explore the purity of line and circular form, particularly depicted in Ryan’s interpretation of Picasso’s Child with a Dove.
doubleshot is extremely proud to have a selection of Ryan’s etchings and engravings from his printmaking outing, now showing until the end of January 2009.

Will be in Knysna some time around Christmas and i think the pink cappucino (not to mention Ryan’s prints) might be worth a trip to Plett.
